Tina Fulton

"I find there's nothing more satisfying than heading out to the garden with an empty basket and filling it will an array of homegrown, organic food. From there, it's easy to turn it into a delicious meal to serve to family and friends!

Since a very early age I've been wildly passionate about vegetable gardens. Raised on a sheep farm in Wairarapa, growing food was a way of life. Our vegetable garden was a good half acre in size and Dad even extended it by growing peas and beans along the borders of his crop paddocks in summer! My favourite thing was to load up our guests with a boot-load of veges to take home, all carefully nurtured and selected by me.

This meant that I was always destined to be a Horticulturist and gained qualifications in Horticultural Science. After working for 10 years as an environmental physiologist, a change in career to motherhood was a fait-accompli ... now I could grow great food alongside great kids!

And thanks to Playscape Edible, my family just got a whole lot bigger! I'll be working alongside the team at Playscape to help you and your ECE centre learn about growing sustainable food which will be filfulling, educational, and of course FUN."

Meet our original Playscape protégée; she helped us to get things just right.

Playscape Poppy

"My name is Poppy and I am 4 years old. I love picking fruit and vegetables in the garden, my favourite are tomatoes. I like the insects that come to visit our garden too. Butterflies are the best, but not those naughty white ones, we don't like them do we. I have some chickens, they are helpful and I can make cakes with their eggs."

Like many Kiwi kids Poppy has grown up digging in the dirt and eating fruit and vegetables straight from the garden. Her involvement with Playscape edible will be to test activities and develop feedback. She will also be passing on her top tips and keeping you up to date with what's growing in her garden.

Also, to ensure our content is well suited to ECE centres, we consult with specialists of pre-school education so you'll be receiving relevant and up-to-date material that is practical and able to be linked back to your curriculum.
